The trabecula cranii is either of two thin, paired, medially aligned bars of cartilage that extends from the rostral end of the chondrocranium to just rostral to the rostral end of the notochord. The caudal ends of the trabeculae cranii are continuous with the parachordal cartilages, and they enclose the hypophyseal fenestra.
